Caught Between Race and Grace

How does one find themselves caught between race and grace? Wrestling with loving the color of the skin you’re in, and knowing that the Creator sees no skin. Yet, we war over our difference with great vigor when we’re all only hu•man, not a black man, or white man, just hu•man.

Race is not a divine construct. But, the forces conditioning us into racist frameworks are always at play (Robin DiAngelo, White Fragility); pitting us between race and grace.

My grace is sufficient, seems like a hard sale when you witness multiple men with black skin repeatedly petition “I can’t breathe”, might I add “in my Black skin.”

But the harsh truth is, what we are witnessing is only the continued digression of a fallen world. And yes, His grace is still sufficient.

The next level narrative as we continue to wrestle the invisible enemy of racism, holding us between race and grace is to be vigilant of how we program our machine and the machines of the next generation.

Our minds are machines operating purely on input and output. And our behaviors are predicated on the language we hear coming from the machine. What voice do you hear coming from your machine? Does your machine speak of a love so great that someone would be willing to die for you even if they know your life has been filled with sin?

Is your machine operating the Agape program? Or does your machine buffer a lot because it’s still responding to how it feels and sees the color of skin as a threat? Does your machine tell you that you are loved, even if those around you don’t? If not, it’s time to upgrade your machine.

Once the new program is uploaded it will convert racist ideals, and decrease thoughts of superiority, as well as, thoughts of inferiority. It will level the playing field and we’ll have equal chance to excel.

God’s Word is the program for all generations, defeating the enemy we face, and equalizing race, while extending His grace.

I believe if we consciously and intentionally change the language that our machine hears, we can then change a Nation’s paradigm.

The Christian will always be battling against the attacks of the world. After all, their program has run amuck, the virus is just too big to contain.

But a shift in thinking will release us from being caught between race and grace; we will see no race and an abundance of God’s grace will inhabit the earth.
